A new aircraft featuring the branding of the EXPO 2027 special exhibition was unveiled at Nikola Tesla Airport, set to serve as a “flying ambassador” for the event, which will host over 120 countries in Serbia.

The Airbus A330-200, a spacious wide-body aircraft with 262 seats, will operate flights to New York, Chicago, Tijuana and Guangzhou, as explained by Minister of Finance Siniša Mali during the aircraft’s presentation.

Attending the event were First Vice-President of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali, along with Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović. Mali highlighted that Air Serbia is the region’s fastest-growing airline, with plans to add three more new planes by year’s end, expanding its fleet to 29 aircraft. He noted that since its reorganization in 2013, Air Serbia has transported over 30 million passengers, including three million in just the first eight months of this year.

Mali emphasized that the success of Air Serbia is a reflection of the country’s achievements, stating, “There are three symbols of a nation’s sovereignty: the anthem, the flag, and a strong national airline. Serbia has all of these, which is why Air Serbia’s success is our country’s success.”

He also mentioned that Air Serbia recently commenced flights to Guangzhou, China, and plans to launch a route to Shanghai by year-end.

The EXPO exhibition is expected to attract over three million visitors. Mali stressed the importance of showcasing Serbia positively, linking the event to ongoing investments in infrastructure, education, and healthcare. He expressed a clear vision for growth and development, aiming to align Serbia more closely with EU standards by 2027, ensuring a bright future for the nation’s youth.

Air Serbia’s Director, Jiří Marek, noted that the airline wanted to contribute to promoting this significant event by giving its third wide-body aircraft the visual identity of EXPO 2027.
