Another big deal for the company PowerChina

In addition to giving consent to sign the contract for the construction of the tunnel from Karađorđeva Street to Despot Stefan Boulevard, the agenda of today’s session of the Temporary Authority of the City of Belgrade also includes contracts for the design and construction of infrastructure in Makiško Polje, the total value of which is more than EUR 167 million.

Not on the agenda of today’s session of the Provisional Authority, is the conclusion on giving consent to the Secretariat for Communal and Housing Affairs and JP Directorate for Building Land and Construction of Belgrade, for concluding a contractual agreement with the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia and PowerConstrustion Corporation Kine doo (Pauerčajna), on the regulation of mutual rights and obligations in connection with the design and construction of roads and communal infrastructure at the Makiško polje location I phase – LOT 1 and LOT 2.

In the draft of the conclusion, it is emphasized that no funds from the budget of the City of Belgrade are needed for the implementation of the mentioned contract. In that document, it is recalled that the Assembly of the City of Belgrade adopted the Detailed Regulation Plan for Makiško Polje, which represents the planning basis for the realization of the subway construction project in Belgrade.

It is added that on September 14th, the Government of Serbia issued a decision by which the City of Belgrade, namely the Secretariat for Communal and Housing Affairs and the JP Directorate for Building Land and Construction, gave consent for the design and construction of roads and communal infrastructure at the Makiško polje location of Belgrade and appointed the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure as the financier of the project.

In order to further implement the conclusion of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the adopted plan of detailed regulation, and in accordance with the concluded Agreement on economic and technical cooperation in the field of infrastructure dated August 20th, 2009 between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Serbia, a final offer was received from the contractor Powerchain for the design and construction of roads and communal infrastructure at the Makiško polje location, phase I for LOT 1 and LOT 2. The estimated amount for LOT 1 is 14,566,760, and 153,168,240 for LOT 2, i.e. a total of 167,735,000 euros without VAT.

The necessary financial resources for the implementation of the contract are provided by the financier of the project, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, which will make direct payments to the contractor, after the confirmation of the client and verification of the documentation by the professional supervisory body – fidic engineer engaged by the Secretariat for Communal-Housing Affairs and JP Directorate for construction land and the construction of Belgrade.

In September, an agreement was signed with Powerchain for the design and construction of a depot for the Belgrade metro in Makis, worth EUR 200 million.
