Serbian Agriculture Minister Snezana Bogosavljevic-Boskovic said Wednesday that Serbia is not affected by the trade embargo between Russia, the European Union and the United States, and expressed hope that Serbia will soon obtain the license to export meat cuts to the Russian market again.

“The embargo on trade between Russia, EU and US does not oblige or affect us. We want to export our products, that is, to create conditions for our producers to export their products to the interested markets,” she told the Radio and Television of Serbia.

Serbia is looking to reopen the possibility of export of this type of meat to Russia, said Boskovic.

“These are the products that make meat production more cost-effective and economical. We have already sent an official request and I believe that a positive reply will soon follow,” said Boskovic.

She voiced confidence that President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin will discuss the cooperation in agriculture, as part of the economic cooperation, with Serbian officials on his upcoming visit to the country.

“(Russian Prime Minister Dmitry) Medvedev has also shown interest in this type of cooperation when he and Minister (of Agriculture Nikolay) Fyodorov visited Serbia’s stand at the opening of ‘Golden Autumn’ agricultural fair in Moscow”, said the Serbian minister, adding that Medvedev also voiced his support for the cooperation between her and her Russian counterpart and noted that this cooperation is already good but that it should be further promoted and enhanced in the future.

The Serbian companies took part in the agricultural technology exhibition in Moscow ‘Golden Autumn 2014’ where they held 155 talks with the Russian partners and reached agreements on a number of export deals for companies which have not exported their products to the Russian market before, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) stated on Tuesday.
