A meeting with representatives of Chinese investors was held today at the National Council for Coordination of Cooperation with Russia and China on the occasion of the construction of an oil refinery in Smederevo, worth about 2.6 billion dollars.
As it was announced from that body, the representatives of the companies from China announced that they are ready to start the realization of the project in April after the agreement and harmonization of all issues with the Working Group to be formed by the Government of Serbia, while the approximate deadline for completion would be four years.
“It is planned that the refinery will be built on the site where the construction of the refinery was once planned. It would produce EURO 6 and the emission of harmful gases would be zero. Companies from Germany and the United States will participate in the production of equipment,” reads the statement after the meeting.
It is stated that this will be “the first investment in the latest technology where complete protection of the environment will be represented,” Danas reports.
