Chinese two finance two highways in Serbia

The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has announced contracts signed in Beijing to financing two major projects.

The projects are part of a new infrastructure investment cycle: the Preljina-Pozega highway on Corridor 11 and the modernization and reconstruction of the Belgrade-Budapest highway section from Novi Sad to Subotica.

The loan agreements for these projects with the Chinese Exim Bank were signed by Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali. The signing was attended by the Presidents of Serbia and China, Aleksandar Vucic and Xi Jinping.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic said that the Novi Sad-Subotica section is the third section of the Belgrade-Budapest highway on the territory of Serbia, 108.2 kilometers long, for which the commercial contract was signed last year with a consortium of Chinese the company China Communications and Construction Company” and China Railway International, worth USD 1.16 billion.

The section of Preljina-Pozega is 30.9 kilometer long, and the value of the works, to be carried out by the Chinese company China Communications and Construction Company, is EUR 450 million.
