Companies in Serbia employed 3.7% more workers in 2020 than in 2019

Last year, 106,111 companies in Serbia employed 1,217,954 workers, which is 3.7% more than in 2019, the Business Registers Agency announced.
Companies with more than 250 employees increased the number of employees by 4.7% in 2020, so that 586 companies employed 523,405 workers, or 43% of the total number of employees in the economy.
Companies with 51-250 employees also increased the number of workers by 2.7% last year, so they employed 277,026 workers.
Companies with 11-50 employees also had a significant increase in the number of workers, by 4.4%, so 10,822 of them employed 235,532 workers.
In 2020, the number of companies without employees decreased by 3.1%, but still 31,465 of them have a share of 29.7% in the total number of companies.
The largest number without employees is in the wholesale and retail trade sector, and by size they are mostly micro, of 99.1%, but, based on operating income and the value of total assets, there are also among small, medium and large economic societies, eKapija reports.
