Contracts worth $330 m agreed for Zastava Arms factory

Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac said last night in Kragujevac that factory Zastava Arms will get contracts worth more than $330 million this year.
Sutanovac pointed out that in 2012 this factory will mostly export to the US market and mainly hunting and sporting weapons.

He said that Kragujevac is an important industrial city in terms of defence system, noting that in addition to the weapons factory, Zastava Trucks and Technical Repair Institute are also located there.

The Minister explained that Zastava Trucks will manufacture a new SUV which will be a combination of a jeep and a freight vehicle.

Sutanovac said that a prototype of this vehicle will be made in April and the first contracts will be concluded by the end of this year. Zastava Trucks and the Military Technical Institute will work on developing this prototype.

He voiced hope that the buyers of this off-road vehicle will be the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of the Interior, Srbijasume forest company and others who need it.
