Eurobank and Direktna Banka donated 50 thousand euros to Serbian firefighters

Eurobank and Direktna Banka, which announced an agreement on merger and strategic partnership at the beginning of July, which will reach a market share of more than 6.5%, donated 50,000 euros today to members of the Ministry of Interior, in support of 52 individuals from the Emergency Department. Helicopter units of the Ministry of the Interior and the medical team, which helped their Greek colleagues in extinguishing the fires that have been burning all over this country for more than a week.
The Minister of the Interior, Aleksandar Vulin, thanked the firefighters – rescuers, members of the Helicopter Unit and the medical team on behalf of all Serbs, the Republic of Serbia and President Aleksandar Vucic because they showed the most beautiful and bravest face of Serbia, as it really is. He pointed out that when the president issued an order to help the fraternal Greek people, he issued an order from the soul of every Serb.
“The reward you received is a gratitude award that you did not ask for and expect. None of you went on this task asking what he will get, how much he will stay, whether it will be a threat to him, his health, his family. None of you asked if he would be rewarded. As soon as you arrived, you entered the fight against the fire element,” the minister said.
“This is the time when we need to show solidarity and provide help to everyone who needs it. These are the values on which Eurobank bases its operations. We strive to be a reliable partner and to adequately help the community in which we live and work. Since its establishment in Serbia in 2003, Eurobank has invested more than 4.7 million euros in supporting the local community. Today’s joint donation is a kind of praise and support for our brave firefighters who risk their lives to help the friendly Greek people who are fighting terrible fires these days,” said Slavica Pavlovic, President of the Executive Board of Eurobank.
During the presentation of the donor check, the President of the Executive Board of Direct Bank pointed out that the socially responsible character of the first joint action, which Eurobank and Direct Bank are realizing in order to support the best and reward courage and perseverance, is a symbol and confirmation of great upcoming ventures.
“Our firefighters, who have dealt with the fires that, unfortunately, have affected not only our country but also the entire region, have made us feel safer, because we have heroes we can count on. Also, they made us proud, because the beautiful image of our people, of compassion and sacrifice went out into the world.
We sincerely believe that the promotion of true values and the direct support of our banks are the best way to help the local community and individuals, but also to successfully overcome all the challenges we are currently facing. Together with Eurobank, we will continue to nurture the same values,” said Vesna Pavlovic.
This summer, Greece is facing major fires, which are the result of the biggest heat wave in the last few decades that have hit this country. More than 100,000 hectares of land and forests were burned, thousands of people had to leave their homes, and a large number of tourists were evacuated, BizLife reports.
