FAS is investing in necessary infrastructure, machinery and equipment for the production of the new model code-named “L0”, Ferrara said on Tuesday evening at the Palace of Italy, where the Kragujevac-based car maker FAS was presented with the G.M. Leonardi award granted by the Italian-Serbian Chamber of Commerce for major contribution to development of economic relations.

FAS will also bring component suppliers from Italy which had requested to be located in the vicinity of Kragujevac. Seven component suppliers should come in Kragujevac, and possibly two more firms, Ferrara said, adding that component suppliers would invest additional EUR 100 million.

He announced that FAS representatives will have a meeting with officials of the Serbian Embassy in Italy on December 16. The talks will focus on potentials for investment in Serbia, he added. President of the Italian-Serbian Chamber of Commerce Vincenzo Divella said that the award was given to FAS for its courage to make such a great investment which benefits Kragujevac and Serbia as a whole.

Divella added that more than 1,000 companies with Italian capital are running their business in Serbia and called on Italian investors to come to Serbia. The award ceremony was organised by the Italian-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, with the help of economic-commercial department of the Italian Embassy in Belgrade.

The event brought together senior managers of the Italian companies in Serbia, such as Banca Intesa, Delta Generali, Fiat Group, Findomestic, Alitalia, Unicredit, Italappalti, as well as representatives of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Belgrade’s Chamber of Commerce and regional chambers.

The Serbian ministers of infrastructure, finance, representatives of the National Bank of Serbia and diplomats also attended the manifestation.

The Italian-Serbian Chamber of Commerce is an apolitical, non-profit organization which generates the exchange of information and experiences in the Serbian and Italian markets, thereby widening the business network and improving cooperation between the two countries.

This chamber is a part of the worldwide network comprised of 73 Italian chambers of commerce (Assocamerestero) which are present in 49 countries with 140 offices and more than 24,000 members.
