Fight against grey economy a strategic priority

The fight against the grey economy is a strategic priority for the government and a complex problem all ministries and financial and legal institutions must work on, Serbian Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Ana Brnabic said Tuesday.

The money the country is losing due to the grey economy would be sufficient to build a new health centre in every municipality and fund salaries for fire fighters, the police and doctors, as well as to rebuild all specialised and general hospitals, she said.

“We must all take part in the fight against the grey economy to achieve the planned goal of reducing it to about 26 pct by 2020,” Brnabic told a conference organised by the Newsweek magazine in Belgrade.

The most important principle on this path is tax ethics – paying taxes, registering workers and issuing fiscal receipts, she said.
