German Ambassador to Serbia Axel Dittmann on Wednesday visited the Sabac plant of the Hemofarm pharmaceuticals company, noting that Hemofarm was a good example of successful cooperation between a company and city authorities.

Dittmann said Hemofarm was one of the biggest German investments in Serbia, employing 2,600 people in the country and contributing to economic growth in Vrsac, northeastern Serbia, and Sabac, western Serbia.

The close cooperation and partnership between Hemofarm and Sabac is crucial in efforts to make the city an even more attractive place for investments, a statement quoted Dittmann as saying.

Accompanied by Sabac Mayor Nebojsa Zelenovic and Hemofarm managers, Dittman toured a factory that annually produces over 55 mln packages of medicines, marketed in 38 countries around the world.

Dittmann’s visit was a symbolic start of marking a decade of Hemofarm’s operations as part of the STADA group.

Since acquiring Hemofarm in 2006, the German-based group has invested over 200 mln euros in upgrading equipment and production, as well as in workforce training.
