The Hisense Corporation invested 45 million euros in a new factory for the production of state-of-the-art cooling devices in Valjevo, and now it has officially started operating.
The new Valjevo 3 factory will produce side-by-side cooling devices of the Hisense, Gorenje and Asko brands, primarily for export to demanding European markets. The completion of the works and the opening of the factory were celebrated on September 13th, 2023, and the opening ceremony was attended by Ana Brnabić, Prime Minister of Serbia, Hanson Han, CEO of Hisense Europe Group and Stanka Pejanović, Vice President of Hisense Europe Group.
Gorenje has been successfully operating in Valjevo for 17 years and provides more than 1,750 jobs to residents of Valjevo and the Kolubara district. The start of the new factory means hiring another 1,000 employees over the next three years. The factory was built next to the existing factory site on an area of 45,000 m2, which houses a modern production hall of 30,000 m2, warehouses and a modern canteen for employees.
The planned production in the new factory will amount to 750 thousand side-by-side devices per year, while the total production in all three plants of Gorenje Valjevo will amount to 1.7 million devices per year by 2025. The most modern cooling devices from Valjevo will find their place in homes across Europe – in all European markets with which Hisense already operates.
Taking care of its employees and respecting high business standards, Gorenje Valjevo opened a new canteen for all its employees at the end of August. This project, for which more than 700,000 euros were invested, aims to improve the working conditions of employees and create a better working environment.
The canteen was built within the new factory hall at Valjevo 3 and is equipped with the most modern kitchen appliances and devices that meet the highest technological standards and norms in the preparation of quality, tasty and healthy meals. The capacity of the canteen allows for the preparation of over 3,000 meals a day, and a dedicated team of experts, including chefs, pastry chefs and support staff, will strive every day to ensure that the employees are satisfied with a varied and high-quality offer.
At the opening ceremony, the CEO of Hisense Europe Hanson Hahn welcomed the guests: “This factory represents a great investment and is a testimony of our unwavering commitment to this community and this country, domestically, and the European market.” In addition to our business endeavors, we believe in giving back to the community that has embraced us and made us feel at home. Aware of our social responsibility, we made significant donations to improve the quality of life of the residents of this region.
On this occasion, I would like to express my gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Serbia. Their support and understanding of the importance of this project were key in making today’s event happen. Thank you all for being a part of this remarkable development journey and I look forward to a future filled with mutual success and prosperity.”
