For a year and a half already five companies are lobbying intensively with Serbian Government to get the deal for exploitation crude oil slate in Aleksinac. According to estimations by one of them exploitation could bring income of even 180 billion Dollars. This explains the huge interest expressed in letters of intent by interested companies as well as bad words they say about one another claiming that they know that the other company will get the deal or that pressure is being made on the Government, and so on.

Huge interest

State Secretary at the Ministry of environment, mining and urban planning Zarko Dragosavljevic says for ‘Blic’ that it is good that the interest is huge. ‘Frankly speaking there is no pressure from any side only interest’, he claims. According to his words no decision has been made yet as how a strategic partner would be introduced in the deal. The basic idea is that the State is the major owner. The Government is considering several options for choosing a partner: inter-state agreement, tender or making consortium of interested companies. Dragosavljevic confirms for our daily that five companies have expressed interest in exploitation and adds that some other are interested, too. Meetings have been held with all companies that sent their letters of intent. Dragosavljevic points out that the information says that Estonia has the best technology.
