It was agreed to form a working group for the construction of the gas interconnection between Serbia and Northern Macedonia

The Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlović, and the Minister of Economy of Northern Macedonia, Krešnik Bekteši, agreed today to form a working group for the construction of a gas interconnection between the two countries, which would be led by representatives of the competent ministries.
– Serbia is interested in better cooperation with Northern Macedonia, to connect with gas interconnections, to cooperate in the field of electricity and renewable energy sources. I believe that our cooperation is important for the region as well, and that everything we do together contributes to our energy security as a region. Also, there is room to improve cooperation within the Open Balkans initiative, which is important for faster economic development of the region – said Mihajlović.
Bekteši pointed out that Northern Macedonia is very interested in improving cooperation with Serbia in all parts of the energy sector, and especially pointed out the connection in the gas sector, which is important for the diversification of the supply of this energy source.
At the meeting held on the sidelines of today’s Ministerial Council of the Energy Community in Belgrade, it was also agreed that a memorandum of understanding between the two ministries would be signed in the coming period, the website of the Serbian ministry reported, eKapija reports.
