Italy’s Seci Energia and the city of Vranje, in southeastern Serbia, have signed an energy sector partnership agreement, the Vranje authorities said. As part of the agreement, the Serbian city will provide Seci Energia with a list of locations, which are suitable for construction of small hydropower plants, Vranje said in a statement on its website. The Italian company will be then obliged to draw a feasibility study on the construction in a period of 12 months after receiving the list. Seci Energia is already engaged by Serbian power utility EPS in building three hydropower plants on the river Ibar in the south. The Italian company and EPS also signed an agreement earlier in 2011 for the construction of ten plants of more than 300 megawatts on the Drina river along the border between Serbia and Bosnia.
