The Serb Minister for Agriculture Branislav Nedimović, together with the Head of the Economic Office of the Italian Embassy in Belgrade Matthias Claivaz, paid a visit to the new Serb production site of Italian group La Linea Verde, a leader in the ready-to-eat fresh produce and dish market. The Provincial Secretary for Agriculture Vuk Radojevic and Ruma Mayor Sladjan Mancic also attended.

The new facility (La Linea Verde doo Dobrinci) dedicated to the production of bagged fresh salads is located in the Ruma municipality in the north of Serbia.

Minister Nedimović stressed the importance of the partnership between La Linea Verde and local producers. The company employs the “La Linea Verde Italia format” in Serbia too, guaranteeing the monitoring of the entire chain, from sowing and harvesting to processing.

On the occasion of the visit to the facility, La Linea Verde was granted use of 99 hectares of state agricultural land. The licence was notified by the authorities directly to owner Giuseppe Battaglia and will last 30 years as of November 2018.

“In addition to the current 70 employees, the owners are looking to hire another 80 people, including seasonal workers. It’s definitely a positive thing for the locals,” stated Mayor Mancic.

“We’d like to thank the local authorities and all those who have collaborated to allow us to expand to Serbia. Our main objective is to grow and, to us, Serbia represents the focus of the Eastern European project, which will lead us to reach the Balkans as far as Russia,” concluded President Giuseppe Battagliola.
