Minister of Construction, Infrastructure and Transport and Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia Zorana Mihajlovic said that over 3.3 billion euros will be invested in communal infrastructure in Serbia, of which 2.5 billion euros will go to 70 municipalities and cities in the central, eastern and southern Serbia.
She added that the Government of Serbia has done a large number of projects in cooperation with the German KFW Bank.
“All these projects were done in cooperation with this German bank. Everything that has been done in the field of communal infrastructure in Serbia has been done with KFW Bank. The value of the projects in Serbia, which we will work with them, is 350 million euros, and so far we have done projects worth 150 million euros,” said Mihajlovic and added that the successful cooperation continues.
Mihajlovic said that numerous infrastructural works were done in Pirot, such as Corridor 10.
“We worked on some other projects, and that is a reflection of a well-organized city administration of Pirot, which was aware of what is important for people to have and stay here to live. In addition to the Pirot Free Zone, which is so important for the economy of the entire region, the communal infrastructure is also equally important. You must have a good water supply, sewerage, wastewater treatment. This is just as important as the road. These are successful projects. We are waiting for this big project for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Pirot worth 12.4 million euros. I hope that it will start with that in the second half of next year,” said Mihajlovic.
The director of the PE Water Supply and Sewerage, Zoran Nikolic, reminded that about 3.3 million euros have been invested in the water supply of the City so far.
“We worked on these projects in cooperation with the Ministry of Construction and I think that cooperation was excellent. Maybe that good cooperation recommended us for the next projects as well, and one of the next big projects is the construction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, whose estimated value is 12.4 million euros. These are all big and important projects that will contribute to us being at the European level,” said Nikolic.
The mayor of Pirot, Vladan Vasic, said that he and Minister Zoran Mihajlovic had opened many infrastructure projects in the city, such as the Regional Landfill and the construction of Corridor 10.
“Now we are witnessing a successful project and the elimination of the problems that Pirot has in case of heavy rainfall, so that the spring becomes cloudy and half of the city has problems with the city. Now there are no such problems. The construction of a Wastewater Treatment Plant awaits us. Over 12 million euros will be invested in its construction. Along with the landfill, a good water supply and a wastewater treatment plant will be one of the few cities that will complete this ecological protection of the area where we live. The electrification of the railway and the construction of the Sofia-Dimitrovgrad-Pirot-Nis gas pipeline are announced. These are large infrastructural works that are being realized through the Ministry headed by Zorana Mihajlovic,” – said Vasic.

The head of the Pirot administrative district, Dragana Toncic, said that 1.5 million euros had been invested in the construction and reconstruction of the Water Treatment Plant in Pirot.
“It is an immeasurable contribution for the citizens because we drink healthier and cleaner water. With the reconstruction of the Pumping Station, we have provided an uninterrupted water supply,” said Toncic, adding that environmental protection was also taken into account, Danas reports.
