PKS: 1, 25 billion dollars surplus of food export in 2012

Domestic producers will accomplish 1, 25 billion dollars foreign surplus in 2012, with 2, 7 billion dollars of import and 1, 45 million dollars of export value, according to expert opinions in Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

Agricultural products in value of 2,5billion dollars were exported from Serbia in 11 months last year, and value of 1,32billion dollars imported at the same time, was announced on PKS web page.

1,18billion dollars surplus was accomplished in that period what indicates the fact that export coverage on import is 189%.

Agricultural import of Serbia in is characterized by 2, 2% increase compared to same time last year, and its participation in total export of the country is 24, 2%,

Import increased for 5, 4% and its participation in total export of the country is 7, 7%.

Foreign exchange surplus of agricultural products has 1, 1% fall in period since January to November 2012.

PKS President’s Agriculture Counselor Vojislav Stankovic pointed that motions in the foreign exchange of agricultural products indicate slowing the tempo of export increase, while import growth is increased.

-It is realistic to expect foreign trade performances to stay on 2011’s level- added Stankovic.

The most important products of agriculture in import were yellow corn in quantity of 2, 1 tons that values 520,9million dollars and 155,718tons of refined beat sugar what amounts 146,7million dollars, during 11 months last year.

Frozen raspberries were sold for 124,7million dollars in quantity of 60.491ton, refined sunflower oil in quantity of 62.019tons was sold for 89,6million dollars, while beer made of malt in 1l bottles was sold in quantity of 100.368tons which brought 68,2million dollars to Serbia.

Other non-alcohol drinks were exported in 95.239tons quantity what brought 56,5million dollars. 43.074tons of crude soybean oil was also exported from Serbia in value of 58,8million dollars, and 16.737tons of sweet biscuit, wafers and other similar products was exported for 51,8million dollars.

Observing divisions, products based on wheat are dominant. They value 776,5million dollars with 7, 5% participation in total product export, fruits and vegetables with 500,3million dollars export and 4, 8 % in total product export.

On the import side dominated traditionally group of uncompetitive products, raw coffee in amount of 93,4million dollars and quantity of 31.061tons and 38.912tons of bananas which cost 30,2million dollars and 31.196tons of oranges that costs 17,7million dollars.

It is significant to mention cigarettes among other products. Cigarettes contain 41,7million dollars worth tobacco in quantity of 651 tons.

Fruits and vegetables with value of 156,8million dollars (and 1, 5 % participation) are predominant in import, coffee, tea, cocoa and spices are next with 194,6million dollars’ value and 1, 1 % of import.
