The Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (SCC) and the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the region will organize three international investment conferences in the next year, at which they will present concrete projects for investing in Serbia to citizens in the diaspora.
This was agreed today at the meeting of the president of the PKS, Marko Cadez, and the acting Director of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Arno Guyon.
“By the end of this year, a gathering of our businessmen from the diaspora will be organized in Switzerland, and at the beginning of 2022 in Austria and Germany,” announced Cadez.
According to him, PKS will provide information through its 16 regional chambers on specific projects in the local in which it is already possible to invest, from the tourism sector, investments in spa centers and the opening of ethno-villages, to agriculture and the IT sector.
“After several decades of trying, the goal is to finally enable our citizens from the diaspora to know exactly which projects are current and where they can invest their money and start a business in Serbia,” said Cadez.
He added that through the project “Connect up Serbia”, after Switzerland, Austria and Germany, investment conferences will be organized in other countries where the Serbian diaspora lives.
“PKS can help all interested parties from the diaspora who want to invest in the area they come from, to simplify and speed up their administrative procedures in local communities,” Cadez pointed out.
The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that it would be important for Serbian citizens in the diaspora to open information centers in the diplomatic and consular departments of Serbia around the world through the “Point of Return” project, which will offer all data on current investment projects in Serbia.
Guyon pointed out that the goal is to move from a decades-long story about the potentials of the diaspora to concrete deeds and offer successful people in the diaspora economic projects in which they can participate.
The statement states that the formation of a new Business Council for the Diaspora 2021-2024 PKS is also planned, which will work through concrete activities to redirect a part of the funds from remittances to starting new businesses and creating jobs in Serbia.
In order for the Serbian diaspora to be more closely connected with the motherland, the plan is to launch an online database of investment projects by the end of the year, which is currently being developed through the “Link up Serbia” project, Novi Magazin reports.
