During the pandemic 2020, the leasing market in Serbia recorded a 20 percent drop in new contracts, but data from the first half of this year show a significant recovery.
Financial leasing recorded a growth of 42.4 percent compared to the same period last year. The total number of vehicles financed through leasing in the first six months of this year was 12,752, compared to 9,640 vehicles financed in the same period last year. On the other hand, the number of 14,144 financed vehicles that was recorded in the first six months of 2019 has not yet been reached.
The passenger car market is recovering, but it is still at a lower level than in 2019. One of the reasons is the lack of new vehicles due to delays in the delivery of parts caused by the corona virus, and the other reason is the absence of the Belgrade Car Fair, as the most important sales event in Serbia.
In the first half of this year, the procurement of passenger vehicles had the highest percentage of participation in the total financing through leasing and amounted to 46 percent, followed by commercial vehicles with a share of 33 percent and equipment with 20 percent. About 93 percent of placements were approved to legal entities and entrepreneurs, while the remaining seven percent were placed to individuals, it is stated in the announcement of S leasing.
“Last year, the leasing industry showed resilience in adapting to new business conditions. Clear signs of economic recovery in 2021 will have a positive impact on the growth of demand for leasing products, and S Leasing is fully ready to follow that,” said Bojan Vracevic, President of the Executive Board of S Leasing, Danas reports.
