Serbia and Russia signed a amemorandum of co-operation in space observation

Serbia and Russia have signed a memorandum of co-operation that will enable the development of innovative technical infrastructure and intelligent services in the field of space observation of the earth to improve the situation in many areas of economy and public administration, the cabinet of Serbian Minister of Innovation and Technological Development Nenad Popovic announced.
The memorandum on cooperation in the implementation of innovations and new technologies in the field of location-based services was signed by the Minister of Innovation and Technological Development of Serbia Nenad Popovic and the General Director of the Russian state company “Glonash” Igor Anatolievich Milashevsky.
“Serbia wants to develop a system of satellite and geolocation services, modeled on Russian partners, and signing this Memorandum will allow digital knowledge and information to be exchanged in favor of improving the quality of life of the average person”, Popovic said.
He emphasized that this cooperation will enable the introduction of modern innovative technologies in all segments of the market of location-based services and positioning.
“Cosmic technologies and geospatial data are being implemented to make it easier for farmers to work, to provide safer and cheaper transportation, to increase road safety, to facilitate navigation and movement, and to make public services provided by public services cheaper and more efficient”, Popovic said.
He pointed out that the cooperation between Serbia and Russia in this field is aimed at the development and improvement of innovative intelligent geolocation systems and services on the concepts of universality and openness.
“We want to develop cooperation in this field with partners from all over the world, and in particular with Russia, which is one of the leaders in the number of satellites from which we can obtain data important for many fields of agriculture, construction, urbanism, meteorology, cadastre, as well as applications smart urban solutions in urban areas”, said Popovic, Novi Magazin reports.
