Petrovic, who is on a one-day visit to Turkey, said that this will establish institutionalised cooperation between the ministries of agriculture of the two countries as well as a permanent committee which will consist of experts of the two ministries.

He explained that experts will be in permanent session to address various issues that are prerequisites for the promotion of economic cooperation and trade.

Trade in agricultural products involves a number of procedures required to establish food safety, he said.

Serbia and Turkey signed a general trade agreement on free trade, but we need to have instruments to help our businesspeople carry out their business activities, he said.

Petrovic said that the meeting also related to trade in beef, sugar and other products.

Turkey has its own trade and economic interests and we can also be optimistic about higher forms of cooperation, common interests and appearance in third markets, as well as the development of our economic relations, he concluded.

Eker said that the signing of this document is a significant step for agriculture, but also for Turkey and its people.

We will have greater political responsibility on behalf of the government and people of Turkey and respect the opinions of expert representatives of the two line ministries that make up the committee, said Eker.
