Strong growth in business income and expenses in Serbia’s non-financial sector

Business income in Serbia’s non-financial sector saw a robust increase of 9.1% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period last year. Particularly noteworthy was the information and communication sector, which experienced a significant rise of 15.3% in business revenues during the same timeframe.

Concurrently, business expenses in the non-financial sector surged by 8.3% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the previous year. The information and communication sector also witnessed a substantial uptick in expenses, soaring by 15.8% over the same period.

A standout performer in this sector was the production of electronic elements and boards, which saw a remarkable increase of 43.7% in business income. However, this growth was accompanied by a substantial rise of 39% in business expenses.

Interestingly, the production of communication equipment emerged as a standout trend, with revenues skyrocketing by 25% while expenditures decreased by nearly 10% compared to the previous year. These insights are based on data from the Republic Institute of Statistics.
