In Pećinci, significant advancements are being made in wastewater management, as the Ministry led by Irena Vujović is set to construct 78 kilometers of essential sewage networks across five populated areas. Four of these locations will be directly linked to a newly planned wastewater treatment facility.

During a recent announcement, Vujović emphasized that the signing of a contract would soon initiate the reconstruction of the wastewater treatment plant. This step is crucial for expediting the construction of the sewage system, as the plant can only operate at full capacity with a connected sewage network. Designed to serve a population of 10,000, the facility will produce technically correct water once the project is complete, which is vital for environmental preservation.

Vujović also highlighted that capital projects focusing on wastewater management are being executed not just in Pećinci, but across various municipalities and cities in Serbia. Recent contracts have been awarded for the construction and renovation of similar facilities in Niš, Sečnje, Apatin, Bečej and Bela Palanka. Looking ahead, projects in Valjevo and Priboj are scheduled to begin in 2024.
