With plans to open its own branch network and launch a robust marketing campaign, Telekom Serbia, the most successful Serbian company in Europe’s thriving market, is poised to achieve a significant milestone of reaching at least one million users.

Vladimir Lučić, the CEO of Telekom Serbia, announced today that the company would inaugurate a branch in Mönchengladbach on Thursday, April 18, followed by another in Düsseldorf a week later, as reported by 24seven.

“At present, our presence in Germany is through a distributor network, with prepaid services available at 25,000 points of sale and around 50 offering postpaid services. Our objective is to enhance proximity to users, aiming to establish up to 30 proprietary branches in Germany by year-end. We’re commencing with two branches near Düsseldorf, one in Mönchengladbach on Thursday, and another in Düsseldorf itself the following week. Over the past ten months of our presence in Germany, we’ve been acquiring an average of 10,000 new users monthly. With our branch network and intensified marketing endeavors, we envisage realistically surpassing the milestone of a million users within the next three years. Considering Germany’s approximately 100 million mobile SIM cards in circulation, capturing just one percent of the market is feasible, given our competitive pricing and service quality,” elucidated Vladimir Lučić during his appearance on TV Happy.

Operating in Germany through its subsidiary MTEL, Telekom Serbia covers the entire country, offering tariffs that are notably more favorable than those of competitors, as stated in the portal’s article. Furthermore, it provides exclusive services tailored to diaspora communities from the region.

“Our SIM cards facilitate free calls from Germany to the region and vice versa without incurring roaming charges. The same applies to our users in Switzerland and Austria, where we currently serve around 220,000 subscribers, a figure that continues to grow. Telekom Serbia serves as a vital link connecting the Western Balkans with the EU,” emphasized Lučić.

In addition to affordable calling rates, Telekom Serbia continually develops digital services as part of its international expansion, ranging from simple money transfers from the diaspora to homeland to e-commerce, offering the most attractive selection of TV channels.

“Our international users enjoy television services on both mobile devices and TVs, featuring all channels from our region along with exclusive entertainment and sports content, which garners significant interest. For instance, since last autumn, we’ve been present in Turkey, offering an exclusive package of 300 TV channels. In Turkey, where millions speak our language, we anticipate gaining hundreds of thousands of new users in the near future,” stated Lučić.

It’s noteworthy that Telekom Serbia also targets Albanians as potential users of its services.

“We’ve become the exclusive distributor of premium Albanian TV channels in North Macedonia, and we’re working on including them in our offerings for Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Turkey. This represents a significant commercial opportunity. Additionally, besides broadcasting matches from our Red Star and Partizan football clubs, we provide coverage of the most attractive clubs from Bosnia and Croatia, which greatly interests the diaspora,” said the CEO.

Regarding Serbia, something truly revolutionary is happening, according to the portal.

“We’ve installed cameras in 50 sports halls across our country, which, with the help of artificial intelligence, provide live broadcasts of all events, from children’s training sessions to local club matches. This greatly interests diaspora members, enabling them to follow live sports events from their places of origin,” Lučić explained.

By the end of this year, Telekom Serbia will become a mobile operator in the United States through the T-Mobile network, making its services available nationwide. With the US market, the world’s wealthiest, the Serbian telecom giant will cover territories with over 500 million inhabitants.

“When we launch in the US, we’ll be one of the largest global operators in terms of geographic presence. These markets generate higher revenues than our local ones, with higher service prices, and require minimal investments since we’ve already completed the crucial investment cycles and are now reaping the rewards, investing in attractive digital services. Telekom Serbia is on a very realistic path to becoming a highly successful global company in the near future, fully prepared for all the challenges of the new digital era,” concluded Lučić.
