The Global Startup Ecosystem 2023 Report by Startup Genome and the Global Entrepreneurship Network was presented at The Next Web conference in Amsterdam. Based on data on 3.5 million startups in more than 290 global ecosystems, the report provides new insights and insights into startup ecosystem trends around the world, while experts, leaders and local key players further contribute to the quality of the data.

As part of this year’s report, the startup ecosystems of Belgrade and Novi Sad were measured, and these are some of the key findings:

Belgrade and Novi Sad created an ecosystem value of $1,116,736,155 from July 1, 2020 to December 31, 2022, which represents a growth of 75.41% compared to the previous period. The value of the ecosystem is expressed through the economic impact, calculated as the value of the exit and valuation of the startup.

We are recognized among the top 20 European ecosystems in terms of available talent — in the category that measures the ability to employ technological talent.

Gaming, blockchain as well as the area made up of medtech, biotech and healthtech are the most prominent sectors due to the number of talents, resources, support and startup activities.

The technological talent base, tax benefits and international connectivity are cited as reasons why startup operations should move to Belgrade and Novi Sad.

The total value of the exit from 2018 to 2022 is 647 million dollars. Serbia has more than 45,000 highly qualified technology professionals.
