According to the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Serbia is entering 2021 ready, with good starting positions, expected growth of five to six percent according to the predictions of international financial institutions and great hope that the virus will be under control as soon as possible.
I am optimistic when it comes to economic recovery in 2021, but that economy will no longer be the same as before, which is why we will have to change business models and “therapy” to save those businesses that will be able to operate sustainably, said the President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Marko Cadez in an interview with Tanjug.
– It is a great success of the state policy that Serbia, among the first countries, ensured the beginning of vaccination at the end of the year – said Cadez.
That, he says, is crucial for the recovery of the economy. Because the sooner you start vaccination, the sooner you will bring the epidemic under control and thus provide the conditions for normal business and economic growth.
Economically speaking, according to Cadez, Serbia is not entering 2021 with bad results, it is starting with a preserved economic base, with industrial production at the level of 2019, even slightly higher, with exports falling by only four to five percent, with about 2.5 billion euros of foreign direct investment invested during the pandemic in factories with the latest technology.
– Good signals are coming from the world, from the growth of stock exchange indices and the price of copper, by 25 percent more than at the beginning of 2020, to the fact that Asia, primarily China, has preserved economic dynamics, which is important for Europe as a major exporter to the Chinese market, but also for Serbia, which exports the most to the EU market – explains Cadez, Tanjug reports.
