Minister of Finance Siniša Mali said today while visiting Pink that the study on the development of the energy sector in Serbia, which was done with a Norwegian company, has been completed, reports Nova.

“In the next couple of weeks, we will decide which scenario to adopt.” Billions need to be invested in energy, but this crisis has shown that, apart from healthcare and food production, the third most important pillar of the country’s sovereignty and development in the future is energy, so we will devote ourselves very seriously to that”, Mali said.

He pointed out that diversification of sources of energy supply, such as gas interconnection with Bulgaria, cooperation with Azerbaijan and cooperation with countries through the Open Balkans, are important in order to alleviate the consequences of the energy crisis and preserve a stable supply of energy.

The Government of Serbia concluded a secret contract with the Norwegian company “Rystad Energy” on consulting services in the energy sector.

The Norwegians then analyzed the situation in that area and proposed which reforms should be implemented in stages. One of the proposals mentioned in the third phase is the review of ownership, and it can be concluded that this refers primarily to EPS.

Exactly what the reforms in the energy sector, which were announced by the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, entail, for now no one knows precisely, but one can only assume, since at the end of July this year, the process of transforming JP Elektroprivreda Srbije into a joint-stock company began, with which it was opened the way for private capital to enter this company, whether through privatization or strategic partnership, Danas reports.
