Serbia wants wi-fi networks on highways, looks to Huawei

Serbian Deputy PM and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic has visited Huawei, her ministry announced on Friday.

Mihajlovic is in China as part of President Aleksandar Vucic’s delegation attending the Belt and Road forum.

While visiting the Chinese tech giant – Serbia’s strategic partner in developing “smart cities” – Mihajlovic learned about the application of new technologies in transportation.

“Developing innovative ideas and solutions that use new technologies leads to an improvement in the quality of life,” she said, and added: “We want wi-fi networks on all our highways, and as many electric charging stations as possible, so that our corridors are traveled in a high quality and comfortable way.”

In addition to implementing smart technologies on Serbian roads, Mihajlovic also discussed possibilities for cooperation in the field of rail transport during her visit to Huawei.
