Minister of Agriculture, Branislav Nedimovic, says that the growth of the export of Serbian agriculture for the last two years amounted to as much as 50 percent and that last year ended with 4.2 billion dollars of export income.
As he said, after more than 30 years, our agriculture has re-entered the most demanding world markets, including high-paying ones, such as the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, but also India and China, and the doors of Vietnam and Indonesia will soon open.
– The market of the United Arab Emirates and the countries of the Middle East is the most exclusive platform for Serbian food. We went there with a lot of fruit, like apples and raspberries, but I don’t expect anything less from beef and lamb – said Nedimovic.
He added that now the entire Persian Gulf is interested in our products and that, as he said, serious quantities of beef have set off for Lebanon.
Explaining why the Vietnam market is interesting to us, he said that this country of 80 million inhabitants is interested in buying pork from Serbia.
– If we open the door there, Serbian pig breeders will open a new chapter for our country in that sector – he said. He stated that as far as pork is concerned, we have good reasons to believe that, in addition to the Vietnamese market, we will also reopen the markets of the European Union and China.
Nedimovic pointed out that India is interesting as a destination for the export of our fruit and stated that almost 40 shipments went to this country in less than half a year, and only in the last three months about 800 tons.
Speaking about the possibilities of exporting fruits, especially berries, to the USA, the Minister of Agriculture said that our fruits are already widely exported to this country, not only blueberries, but also raspberries.
He pointed out, however, that the problem is that this is a market with a huge extent of blueberries from South America, which is an additional aggravating circumstance for our producers, Novosti reports.
