The topic of our performance is “Serbia creates ideas – inspired by the past, we create the future”.
Serbia will present its companies at the world’s leading business event, the “Dubai Expo 2020”, from October this year to March next year. The World Exhibition in Dubai is held under the slogan: “Connecting minds, creating the future”, and the central events related to the representation of our country will be organized in the national pavilion of Serbia. The topic of our performance is “Serbia creates ideas – inspired by the past, we create the future”.
Igor Kovacevic, professor at the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade and director of the pavilion of the Republic of Serbia at the “Dubai Expo 2020”, explains that the presentation of our country is inspired by the Neolithic Vinca civilization, because Serbia is the natural heir of innovation, excellence, art, trade and peaceful coexistence of this culture, more than 7,000 years old.
– Linking to the key innovations of the people of Vinca that changed humanity throughout history – such as the first melting of metals in the world, the first urban settlements, advanced forms of agriculture, and incredible examples of mobility, communication, trade development – key themes of Serbia’s performance were defined. What is important is that on the basis of this story, content was generated about what our country is now and in what way we further direct and maintain this continuous development – states Kovacevic.
The Serbian Pavilion is designed as a kind of time capsule, which connects the legacy of Vinca culture, through the most important innovators and scientists of our region such as Tesla, Pupin and Milankovic, with digitally advanced, modern Serbia. And these are exactly the elements of the permanent exhibition intended for the expected number of 25 million visitors of the “Dubai Expo 2020” event.
– Appearance at this fair is an investment in communication and promotion of modern Serbia, which with the knowledge and creativity of its companies in various domains, from creative industries, through agriculture to producers of consumer goods, scientific and educational institutions, and of course tourism, can be successfully competes for the world buyer, client and tourist – Kovacevic emphasizes and adds that in this way, our country will present to the world community why it is the first in Europe in terms of direct investments, why it is a leader in e-government, a proud host of the European Center of Excellence for ICT solutions in agriculture.
Marko Selakovic, head of the office of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce in Dubai and business director of “Expo Serbia”, says that so far, through online presentations of the Chamber of Commerce and direct communication, more than 150 businessmen are familiar with the concept of business performance of our country.
According to him, in the pavilion of Serbia, as well as in the business center that will function within the free zone “Dubai South”, business delegations from the fields of agriculture and food processing, tourism, health, information and communication technologies, advanced technologies, construction, circular economics, water treatment, education, automotive, chemical and metal industries, aero-technologies, etc. Applications for sectoral delegations will be opened two months before the start of each of the thematic weeks: we believe that the Serbian economy will show that it is competitive in the most demanding markets through an organized and innovative performance, he notes.
– The World Exhibition is an opportunity for companies to present their products, achievements and innovations, explore the Middle East market, but also to connect with related companies from all continents. Delegations from more than 190 countries will be present in Dubai during this event, the whole world in one place. The companies want to present themselves successfully, but also to connect with as many partners from different countries of the world and our task is to enable them – says Selakovic and adds that free charter flights will be organized for business delegations, free transfers to key locations in Dubai, and no fee is paid for the use of the business center and presentation at the Serbian pavilion, Politika reports.
