The Serbian startup ecosystem has seen successes in the last three years when it comes to investments. According to the ‘Startup Genome’ report, which measures the success of such companies on a global scale, Serbian startups have surpassed a value of one billion dollars.

The annual Startup Scanner report states that the number of startups in Serbia is growing by 20% every year, and simultaneously, there is an increasing presence of domestic products in the global market.

“In the outgoing year, new startups with new products emerged on the global market in various industries: transportation and logistics, tourism, medicine, and many others.

Nebojša Bjelotomić, the CEO of the Digital Serbia Initiative, told NIN that the increase in the number of startups attracting investments shows that there is potential in the domestic ecosystem to create and scale global products.

“The next step for our ecosystem is to elevate everything that currently exists to a higher level and attract VC funds that invest larger sums of money, allowing our startups to grow into globally recognized companies. The Digital Serbia Initiative organized the arrival of 12 VC funds during the year, which met with 61 domestic startups, showing that foreign investors recognize the potential of our startups and are increasingly monitoring them,” assessed Bjelotomić for NIN.
