Serbia’s H1 cons budget surplus shrinks 48% y/y, well below plan

Serbia’s first-half consolidated budget deficit narrowed 48.4% on the year to 18.2 billion dinars ($162.3 million/147.7 million euro), well below the originally projected 78.3 billion dinars, the country’s finance ministry said on Tuesday.

Total consolidated budget revenues grew 8.7% on the year to 875.5 billion dinars in January-June, while spending increased 6.3% to 893.7 billion dinars, data posted on the website of the ministry showed.

Tax revenues rose 9.3% to 758.2 billion dinars, non-tax revenues grew 4.8% to 113.9 billion dinars, and grants jumped 14.1% to 3.4 billion dinars.

On the expenditure side, current expenditure climbed 4.2% to 823.4 billion dinars, while capital expenditure soared 42.2% to 48.8 billion dinars.

In 2015, Serbia’s consolidated budget deficit contracted to 149.1 billion dinars from 258.1 billion dinars a year earlier.
