Serbia’s annual consumer price inflation quickened to 3.6% in March from 3.2% in February, data from the national statistical office showed on Wednesday.
On a month-to-month basis, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.2% in March, data published on the website of the national statistical office indicated.
Transport prices rose by 7.9%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco prices grew by 6.5%, and costs for communications services went up by 5.0%.
On the other hand, prices of clothing and footwear fell by 0.9%.
Serbia’s central bank, NBS, said on Tuesday the annual inflation rate in the country is expected to remain within the band of 1.5%-4.5%, as a result of the recovery of crude oil prices and the one-off effects of a rise in the prices of fruits and vegetables.
The country’s annual consumer price inflation slowed to 1.2% in 2016, from 1.9% in 2015.
