Strengthening cooperation between Serbia and Hungary

The contract on reconstruction and modernization of the railway Subotica – Horgos – border with Hungary was signed today on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Serbia by the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic, General Director of “Serbian Railway Infrastructure” Nebojsa Surlan and on behalf of the consortium, “Karin Komerc MD doo Veternik ” and “RZD International” Krsto Dubroja.
Minister Momirovic emphasized that after the completion of modernization and reconstruction, this line will be one of the most modern electrified European railway sections, with which trains will travel at speeds of up to 120 km / s with the most modern accompanying equipment and signal and safety systems.
– Reconstruction and commissioning of this route will improve transport and passenger connections in the region of the two cities of Subotica and Szeged, strengthen the links between Hungary and Serbia, but most importantly, if we look at the picture, we will connect the main logistics units of the region, including the intermodal port of Baja on Danube, the port of Szeged on the Tisza and logistics centers in Vojvodina and Belgrade – said Minister Momirovic.
The contract envisages the reconstruction of the 26.63 km long railway for speeds up to 120 km / s and the reconstruction of station buildings in Palic, Backi Vinogradi and Horgos stations, Javno Skladiste and Hajdukovo stops, but also the reconstruction of 13 level crossings and 2 underpasses. By the procedure of the Public Invitation for the selection of a strategic partner, published in April 2021, the Russian company “RZD International” was chosen, which enters into this business in a consortium with the domestic company “Karin Komerc”. The value of their offer, which was also the only one in the public invitation is 95 million euros without VAT, Srbija Danas reports.
