The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, stated today that the arrival of the Japanese group Nidek, which will build a factory of propulsion engines for electric vehicles in Novi Sad, is a great day for Serbia because it will contribute to the development of that city and the whole country.
After the meeting with the delegation of the Japanese group Nidek Corporation in the Presidency of Serbia, Vucic said that the investment was a “magnificent gift for Serbia” and thanked everyone who worked on it.
He emphasized that it is very important for Serbia that it already has two Japanese investors, as he said, in a small area, Toyo Tires in Indjija and now Nidek in Novi Sad, and that the arrival of Japanese companies only speaks of how good a destination Serbia is for investment.
As he said, the Japanese are not going anywhere to invest.
“This is one of the projects that are fundamentally changing our country,” Vucic emphasized and added that they had been working on bringing Nidek for a long time.
The President emphasized that Serbia currently has two most important goals, to win the corona and to have as much economic growth as possible, for which we need to have as much investment as possible, especially foreign ones.
He added that he was happy that Nidek announced that out of 1.5 billion euros of investments, more than half would be for Serbia.
“Only in the first phase, Nidek will employ 480 people and their income will be significantly higher than the average in Serbia. It is important for us that this is just the beginning of the investment, and we believe that it is only 10 percent of what Nidek will invest in Serbia,” Vucic emphasized.
Vucic says that in addition to the factory in Novi Sad, Nidek will also build a research and development center (RND) in that city, and that more technological, electrical engineering and mechanical faculties will be needed, as many engineers will be needed in the coming period, Politika reports.
