The EU is providing 3.4 million euros to improve local infrastructure in Serbia, News
The European Union (EU) program for local development, EU PRO Plus, announced today that a public call for local infrastructure projects in Serbia has been published, for which the EU has allocated 3.4 million euros.
The call is open until January 31 next year, and 99 local governments from Šumadija and western Serbia, as well as southern and eastern Serbia, which are involved in the implementation of the EU PRO Plus program, have the right to participate.
The statement said local governments should compete with projects that contribute to a better quality of life through the improvement of public infrastructure, including the renovation and construction of educational, health and social care facilities, sports and cultural facilities, utilities and public administration buildings.
It was added that during the selection of projects, special attention will be focused on improving the living conditions of members of endangered groups, as well as on recovery from the consequences of the coronavirus.
“The value of individual projects will range from 42,000 to 170,000 euros, while municipalities should co-finance projects in the amount of at least 15 percent of the total project value. In order to improve the sustainability of the project, local governments can apply on call independently, but also in partnership with other local governments, public companies and institutions, as well as with civil society organizations and regional development agencies,” the statement said.
The call envisages support for the construction or reconstruction of public buildings, which should contribute to their functionality, as well as to improving the energy efficiency of public buildings, their accessibility, improvement and protection of the environment and urban mobility.
The EU supports the activities of the EU PRO Plus program with 40 million euros, and the implementation of the program is led by the Ministry of European Integration, Danas reports.
