This year, Serbia is expected to reach the level of GDP, in absolute numbers, over 50 billion, which is an increase of up to 50 percent in the last nine years, since the amount of GDP in 2012 was 33.6 billion, said today the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.
In addition, he reminded, in the meantime, catastrophic years of 2014 occurred due to the floods, and 2020 due to the corona virus, and Serbia still managed to make growth.
“The volume and value of everything we do in Serbia has grown by 50 percent in just nine years, and now we are no longer talking about returning to 1989, because we are far ahead. And that says a lot,” said Vucic for TV Pink.
The President pointed out that he was proud of Serbia’s success when it comes to infrastructure projects, as well as the agreement with the EU on assistance in the construction of the railway to Northern Macedonia, while many projects are being worked on with Chinese friends.
Along the Belgrade-Nis road and further towards Northern Macedonia, he reminded that the construction of the Fruska Gora corridor has begun, and fast roads will be built to Pozarevac, then to Gradiste and Golubac.
He added that the Moravian Corridor is making great progress, as well as the sections Ruma-Sabac, Kuzmin-Sremska Raca, and that, he stated, the “papers” for the fast road Belgrade – Zrenjanin should be completed soon.
“Soon, after the Cacak-Pozega section, we should go to the section of the highway from Pozega to Arilje, Ivanjica, Sjenica, Duga Poljana, to the border with Montenegro. We hope that Montenegro will find the money to build 60 kilometers of highway from Boljar to the part of the road that has already been built,” Vucic said.
Serbia got a different look in nine, ten months, he underlined.
“From 2012 to 2021, we increased our country’s GDP by 50 percent, in absolute numbers, but salaries also increased that much, in real numbers, in nominal terms and more than 60 percent. Pensioners have the largest pensions in history, but that is not enough yet, and that is why we take special care of them,” said Vucic, Politika reports.
