Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, stated that the goal is for Serbia to have exports in the ICT sector of more than 10 billion euros by the end of the mandate of the next government.
We already have 104,000 employees in the ICT sector, and our goal is to have 140,000,” said Brnabić at the ceremonial conference marking the completion of the Star Tech program “Open Horizon for Innovations” at the Palace of Serbia, where the second edition of NALED’s Gray Book of Innovations will be presented.
She emphasized that Serbia now has a more dynamic economic development that keeps young people in the country and brings back those who have gone abroad.
As she stated, today the challenges are smaller because in Serbia, there is a belief that innovations and knowledge are areas where we can be winners, which was not the case in 2016 when many did not see Serbia as a country of innovations, but today many see it as our greatest strength.
She emphasized that in 2012, Serbia had an ICT sector export of 375 million euros, and this year it will be between 3.6 and 3.7 billion euros, and it was done together with people from that sector.
“We did not define artificial intelligence and biotechnology because they are modern, but because we have the best results in that sector, and it was logical,” Brnabić pointed out.
