According to the official data of the Republic Statistical Office, the average gross salary calculated for December 2022 was EUR 983, while the average salary without taxes and contributions (net) was EUR 718.

The growth of gross and net earnings in the period January-December 2022, compared to the same period last year, amounted to 13.8 percent in nominal terms, i.e. 1.7 percent in real terms.

When it comes to the highest average salaries in domestic companies, at first glance there has been a significant increase, and that for several reasons.

Particularly interesting are the table comparisons of the highest average gross wages paid in companies in Serbia at the end of 2022, in relation to data from 2020. Out of a total of 99 companies that paid the highest average salaries in Serbia, as many as 80 are located in Belgrade, while 7 of them are in Novi Sad.

In addition, compared to the list with data from two years ago, there was a significant decrease in the number of construction companies, while on the other hand, it can be said that the presence of IT companies still justifies the overall results of the domestic IT industry.

Companies with the largest number of employees should be singled out from the ranking, because in their case, possible high salaries of managers in the company do not raise the average as dramatically as in the case when the company has a small number of employees.
