In its assessment of the Economic Reform Program of Serbia from 2021 to 2023, the European Commission (EC) positively assessed the achieved economic results, the package of economic measures for overcoming the consequences of the Covid 19 pandemic and the successful process of vaccinating citizens, the Ministry of Finance announced.
EC representatives praised Serbia for a good and timely response during the crisis, which had a positive impact on the business environment and employment, said in a statement on the participation of State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance Gojko Stanivukovic at a meeting of the Economic and Financial Committee (EFC) economic and financial dialogue with the European Union.
This dialogue discusses economic reform programs for the period 2021-2023 for the Western Balkans and Turkey.
The statement said that during the meeting, it was stated that Serbia has one of the best results in the region in the field of economic growth, while Serbian companies showed a high level of resistance to changes in the market during the pandemic.
As it is stated, Serbia is also praised for the achieved results in the vaccination of the population against Covid 19, which, as it was estimated, will affect a faster economic recovery.
Stanivukovic stated that, in addition to helping health care, the vaccination process has been accelerated and that about two million citizens have been revaccinated so far, which will have a positive impact on the domestic economy.
He also stressed that the digitalization of the economy and public administration remains on the list of priorities for structural reforms, along with further modernization of the Tax Administration, strengthening revenue collection, as well as improving the business environment while ensuring sustainable, energy efficient and environmentally friendly economic growth and path to the European Union, N1 reports.
