The number of issued building permits increased by 26 percent, turnover in industry increased by 1.2 percent

In Serbia, 3,768 building permits were issued in October, which is an increase of 26.1 percent compared to the same month last year, as reported by the Republic Statistical Office. Of the total number of permits issued in October, 87.1 percent relate to buildings, while 12.9 percent pertain to other structures.

If only buildings are considered, 86.4 percent of permits were issued for residential buildings, and 13.6 percent for non-residential buildings, while the majority of other buildings are related to pipelines, communication and electrical lines (63.9 percent).

According to the permits issued in October 2023 in Serbia, the construction of 3,086 apartments was reported, with an average area of ​​74.4 square meters.

Of the total number of apartments in new residential buildings, 11.5 percent of apartments will be built in buildings with one apartment, with an average area of ​​148.9 square meters, and 87.3 percent of apartments will be built in buildings with three apartments or more, and their average area will be significantly smaller and will amount to 63.4 square meters.

The estimated value of the new construction works in October 2023 is 67.9 percent of the total estimated value of the works.

Observed by region, the greatest construction activity is expected in the Belgrade region, 25.9 percent of the projected value of new construction, followed by the Južnobačka region (17.8 percent), the Srem region (11.0 percent), the Central Banat region (6.3 percent), Pomeranian region (4.3 percent) and Bor region (4.1 percent), while the shares of other regions range from 0.2 percent to 3.6 percent.

Turnover in industry in Serbia in October was 1.2 percent higher than in October 2022.
