Nikola Altipamarkov, a member of the Fiscal Council of Serbia, believes that due to the great uncertainty about the crisis with the coronavirus pandemic, one should be careful with the increase of salaries in the public sector and that it would be better to wait until the summer with such a decision.
Then we would have more concrete information on what the year will look like in economic and epidemiological terms, he told N1.
If such trends continue until the end of the year and in 2021, Altipamarkov believes, we would have a low drop in GDP of one percent, and then next year we could have a higher rate of economic growth and a modest increase in salaries.
Altipamarkov told N1 that the message of the Fiscal Council is not to save on investments and to go for solidarity between the private and public sectors, Nova reports.
