The Research and Development Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia, the establishment of which was decided by the Government of Serbia, will deal with research related to the application of artificial intelligence in various fields, as well as analysis and monitoring of the situation in the field of artificial intelligence in Serbia.
– The Institute will cooperate with scientific research organizations and the economy, and with a multidisciplinary approach will contribute to the development of innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as attracting investments. The preconditions for the work of this institute have been met, because primarily there is an educational system that already has experience in building staff for a very successful IT sector in Serbia – it is stated in the announcement.
The issue of artificial intelligence as a significant segment of the development of science and research, and thus the whole society, was primarily recognized through the Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in Serbia for the period from 2020 to 2025, which sets goals and measures for the development of artificial intelligence. It should result in economic growth, improvement of public services, and improvement of scientific staff and development of skills for future jobs.
Also, the Strategy of Scientific and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia for the period from 2021 to 2025 “The Power of Knowledge”, in the Action Plan for the period from 2021 to 2023, envisages the establishment of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence.
– The stated strategies envisage that the Institute be established and primarily financed from the budget of the Republic of Serbia, but also additionally supported by the economy and international organizations – it is added in the announcement, eKapija reports.
