12 pct more tourists visit Serbia

A total 2.12 mln tourists visited Serbia between January and September 2016 -12 pct more than last year, a statement of the Tourist Organization of Serbia said.

In the recorded period there were 1.15 mln domestic tourists – 13 pct more than last year and 11 pct more international tourists – 977,000.

Fifty-four pct were domestic and 46 pct were international guests, reports TOS, based on data gathered by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.

During the first nine months of 2016, there were 6 mln overnight stays (a 13 pct increase) – 65 pct domestic and 35 pct international.

Domestic guests stayed more in spas (39 pct) and mountains (35 pct) while foreigners stayed mostly in Belgrade (50 pct).

The biggest number of international visitors was from BIH, Montenegro, Turkey, Russia and Bulgaria.
