Belgrade “never closer” to getting subway – mayor
, NewsThe first three subway lines will be “defined and presented” to the public by November 15, Belgrade Mayor Sinisa Mali announced on Tuesday.
He added “construction could start in late 2018,” Tanjug has reported.
“If we ensure government support, and I am certain we will, we could start the implementation of this project already in late 2018,” Mali said, presenting city projects at a Belgrade Investment Days panel.
According to him, negotiations on financing and contracts with potential contractors would follow next year, after which the main project would be made in order to enable a start of works.
“Belgrade has never been closer to getting a subway. Bearing in mind that the investment will not be less than 800 mln euros, or between 800 mln and 1 bln, it is another incentive for our construction industry and another source of growth for the national economy”, said Mali.
