Belgrade will be the center of the world during the Expo exhibition

The Expo 2027 exhibition will make a huge contribution to the development of Belgrade and Serbia, it is a great honor for Serbia and it is the biggest event ever organized in Serbia, which will make Belgrade the center of the world during the three months it is held, Minister of Finance Siniša Mali said today.

Today, the Minister presided over the session of the Coordination Team for monitoring the implementation of the international specialized exhibition Expo Belgrade 2027, which will be held with the theme “Game(s) for humanity – sport and music for all” in Belgrade from May 15th to August 15th, 2027. years.

Mali, who previously led the Working Group that dealt with Belgrade’s candidacy, pointed out that all the members of the Coordination Team have a big job ahead of them, and that one part of the activities will be focused on the construction of facilities, and the other will concern the organization itself, it is stated in announcement of the Ministry.

The Minister explained that, according to the rules of the International Bureau of Exhibitions (BIE), it is necessary to establish a new company “Expo Belgrade 2027” which will exclusively deal with the implementation of the project. Mali informed the members of the team about all the preparatory activities undertaken at the location where the exhibition will be held, and the proposal of the rules of procedure on the work of the Coordination Team was also on the agenda.

At the session, it was also proposed to form subgroups that would deal with financial issues, monitoring the implementation of projects, legal issues, as well as the implementation of marketing and promotional activities. Mali said that up to three million people from all over the world are expected to visit Belgrade and Serbia in those months, which will have a huge positive impact on various sectors in our country. As he said, the increased visit of tourists will generate income from accommodation, food, transportation and other tourist services.

He added that winning the organization of the Expo exhibition is a proof of huge confidence in our country, and that we have shown that in the political sense we can get broad support in all parts of the world. “Now the task is on us to do much more in order to be able to justify the trust of the whole world,” said the minister.

Mali concluded that we have enough time, but that we now have months and years of work and organization ahead of us, and that he is convinced that we will organize a great Expo exhibition and that this project will make a huge contribution to the progress and development of Serbia.

The planned Expo complex will be located in an area with excellent traffic connections, between the Belgrade ring road and the “Miloš Veliki” highway, in the territory of the municipality of Surčin. The complex will include fair halls, pavilions, accommodation facilities and commercial facilities and will be successfully connected to the city center and the airport.

About 100 countries, as planned, will have exhibition spaces within the facilities, and four pavilions will be dedicated to the theme of the exhibition, while there will also be a central Serbian pavilion.

The session was also attended by Minister of Culture Maja Gojković, Minister of Information and Telecommunications Mihailo Jovanović and Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begović, who are also members of the Coordination Team.
