The Committee for Agriculture of the Assembly of Serbia adopted the proposal of the rebalance of the republic budget to increase subsidies in agriculture.
The Minister of Agriculture, Branislav Nedimovic, claims that, after the rebalance, the budget for subsidies in agriculture will amount to nearly 360 thousand euros, thanks to an additional 46.6 thousand euros approved by the Committee for Agriculture yesterday.
“The largest part of this amount, ie close to 42 thousand euros, will be directed to the Directorate for Agrarian Payments in the name of subsidizing agricultural production, 4.1 million euros will be given to the Republic Water Directorate and 593 thousand euros to the Directorate for National Laboratories,” said State Secretary Senad Mahmutovic.
He emphasized that this is an increase in the budget funds of the Ministry by 10 percent, which led to the legally prescribed five percent share of earmarked funds for agriculture in the budget.
Board member Milija Miletic emphasized that these funds were approved at the persistent insistence of that parliamentary body to provide producers with money for incentives, so that they would be paid the agreements for the previous three years.
“A large number of producers from southeastern Serbia, who are in a difficult position, expect help so that they can pay taxes and contributions, and this could at least solve that problem for them,” said Miletic, BiF reports.
