The opening of the CDP office in Belgrade represents an exceptionally important step in further strengthening the economic and business relations between Serbia and Italy, confirming the shared commitment to sustainable economic growth. We are proud that Banca Intesa is a partner of CDP in this significant endeavor,” said Darko Popović, CEO of Banca Intesa, regarding this event.

“Banca Intesa has been a long-standing leader in the Serbian market and a systemically important bank that provides strong support to the local economy and citizens through the offering of innovative products and services. With the leadership and coordination of the International Banking Division of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, led by Marco Elio Rotinii, Banca Intesa plays a significant role in strengthening economic and business ties between Serbia and Italy. It provides Serbian companies with the advantage of a unique approach to the Italian market, connecting economies and fostering collaboration between companies in these two markets.

Italy is one of Serbia’s leading trading partners and foreign investors in our country, with over 1,300 Italian companies and entrepreneurs directly employing more than 34,000 people in Serbia. At the same time, Italy is present in the Serbian market through a robust business platform consisting of the Confederation of Italian Industry in Serbia, the Chamber of Italian-Serbian Entrepreneurs, the Italian Trade Agency, Simest, and SACE, which is now joined by CDP. This completes the network of institutional support for Italian companies operating in Serbia. I believe that the fact that Simest and CDP offices are located in the administrative building of Banca Intesa will further strengthen collaboration and synergy with the bank and our parent Group.

With Italy, we share a common vision of an advanced and sustainable Serbian economy, materialized this time through a credit line we signed with CDP, the first in a series planned within our joint collaboration. Along with arrangements with other supranational institutions, this credit line will further strengthen our capacity to support green initiatives of small and medium-sized enterprises as drivers of economic growth and employment. This aligns with our commitment to ESG principles and the strategic orientation of our parent Group, evidenced by more than 210 million euros in ESG loans realized in 2023. Considering that financial institutions and concerted action play a crucial role in implementing green transformation and decarbonization, I believe that our partnership with CDP will contribute to creating a competitive, resilient, and sustainable Serbian economy, simultaneously fostering further strengthening of the overall economic cooperation between our two countries.
