From January to May, the number of tourists in Serbia was halved

In the period January-May 2020, a total of 610,374 tourists stayed in Serbia, which is 52.8 percent less compared to the same period last year, the Tourist Organization of Serbia announced today.
There were 369,194 domestic tourists, which is 48.9 percent less compared to the period January-May 2019 or 60 percent of the total number of guests, and 241,180 foreign tourists, which is 57.7 percent less compared to the same period last year.
In the period January-May 2020, a total of 1,976,253 overnight stays were realized, which is 44.3 percent less than in the period January-May 2019.
In Serbia, in May this year, compared to May 2019, the number of tourist arrivals decreased by 87.6 percent, while the number of overnight stays decreased by 82.6 percent.
In May this year, compared to May 2019, the number of nights spent by domestic tourists decreased by 76.4 percent, and the number of nights spent by foreign tourists decreased by 94.4.
TOS reminds that the state of emergency, introduced due to the Covid-19 pandemic, was lifted in Serbia at the beginning of May, but in our country, as well as in the world, restrictive measures remain in force when it comes to travel.
According to the information of local tourist organizations, domestic tourists traveled a bit more in Serbia in June, which should be shown by the statistical data for that month, Dnevnik reports.
